...but what about surface?
I was reading Bruno Munari's 'Design as Art'. One of the points that he made I found particularly interesting. 'There should be no such thing as art divorced from life, with beautiful things to look at and hideous things to use.' Why should art be imprisoned in gallery's or stuck on the walls and yet the things that we encounter and need day to day, we keep hidden away in drawers and cupboards as there is no inherent beauty to them.
