In which what appears to be a traditional toile (popular copperplate printed cloth in the C18th) is a contemporary remake with scenes of Glasgow. Which even in itself at first seems pleasant enough. However, look closely and you will see much of it is unsavoury, including in the scene prostitutes, a crack addict and a man urinating.
This is also a piece of their work, that wouldn't be so suitable for those with a fear of insects. Instead of 'pretty' butterflies it includes moths and beetles. The effect is, according to Drusilla Cole of 'Patterns:New Surface Designs' 'disquieting'. The designers at Timorous Beasties like to include details that are slightly disconcerting and unsettling.
Another example, a seemingly innocuous floral patern actually contains a faint background detail of women thumbing their noses at the viewer! http://www.timorousbeasties.com/about/
